Where can I submit free press releases about a product for autistic children?
I would like to find websites/companies that I can submit press releases to about a new product that the owner of the company I work for has developed. Any ideas?

- Sending press releases is a free and relatively easy way to get press on your product. You can find the addresses to send the release by 1) searching the web sites of local newspapers - usually neighborhood papers are happy to get well written pieces they can use in their papers, and you can get a good response from sending to them. 2) search medical/psychological trade journals and send the release to their editors, same with "product" trade journals - not sure what your product is, but you do and you can search to see if there are any journals for that type of product (pharmaceutical, mechanical, etc.) and finally you can look for online journals or relevant blogs to send it to them, they are always looking for content. All the places you search out should have an email address for submissions, so with a little work you should be able to develop quite a respectible list. You can also find local (or national) news stations and send it to them as well! Have fun!
- As mentioned, you need to develop a list of target media. Once you do that, you need to contact them to ensure that they handle press releases and to whom to send the release. It is expensive and time consuming, but the best way to do this is via a telephone. Many magazines get 100's of press releases each month. They often will only publish the releases for companies with whom they have an advertising relationship. However, if you make the effort to personally contact them, they may publish yours without you buying an advert. Simply sending out 100's of emails to a poor overworked editor will not get your press release published..
